Assessment before exercise prescription
Neck and back pain can have many contributing factors. Assessment looks at symptom behavior, movement, strength, work or home demands, sleep and activity patterns, previous episodes and any features that suggest medical review is needed.
This helps avoid generic advice and instead build a rehabilitation plan that matches the person’s current tolerance and goals.
Movement, strength and daily habits
Rehabilitation may include mobility exercises, strengthening, graded loading, walking or general activity, lifting practice, workstation adjustments and strategies for changing positions during long sitting periods.
The aim is not to chase a perfect posture. It is often more useful to develop movement options, physical capacity and confidence across the activities that matter to you.
A plan you can continue outside the clinic
A small number of well-chosen exercises is usually easier to follow than a long list. Home guidance is adjusted as symptoms and capacity change.
Persistent or recurrent pain may need a broader approach that includes sleep, activity, workload and medical factors in addition to exercise.
